The trends in global meat consumption demonstrate the renaissance of red meat as an essential component of a healthy diet, this demand for red meat from New Zealand will not decrease, which places a responsibility on the government to ensure agriculture can continue to operate without unreasonable constraints, while at the same time investing in new farming technologies and methods which minimise its contribution to global warming.
Politicians need to follow the science rather than reacting in a kneejerk fashion to the misinformed demands of sections of the public.
