Scientists at the University of Edinburgh have devised a method of using Bacteria to transform plastic into food flavouring.
Green Chemistry is aiding the direction to a circular sustainable economy, using microbes to turn waste plastics, which are harmful to the environment, into an industrial commodity with applications in cosmetics and food, is a demonstration of green chemistry. This is the first example of using a biological system to upcycle plastic waste into a valuable industrial chemical which has exciting implications for the circular economy.
