NZ Bio Security stepping up Border restrictions: Undeclared Meat smuggling on incoming passengers again highlighting the concern for maintaining our tight Border security measures.
FMD ( Foot & Mouth Disease) ASF (African Swine Fever) have been found on incoming passengers luggage from Indonesia into Australia, also routine testing of Chinese Pork detected fragments of both diseases, although the virus was not alive it shows the animals had been exposed to the diseases. This brings into question the standards of importing meat products and NZ should not drop its guard, including stepping up checks at airports, introducing disinfectant mats for people returning from Indonesia to clean their footwear, an awareness campaign targeting travellers, an on-the-ground audit of the palm kernel supply chain in Indonesia
