New Zealand has gone from being one of the most productive economies in the OECD to being one of the least productive, according to the New Zealand Productivity Commission. Not because productivity has fallen there was little change in the trend - but other countries' productivity has grown faster. New Zealand has a defensible record in producing more goods and services. But this has come from more New Zealanders working more hours.
